“Extensive study of calligraphic masterworks (by artists such as Wang Xizhi, Zhao Ji, Mi Fu, and others) influenced my technical understanding of brush and ink. From the first strokes in 2010 my writing matured in technique, balance, flow, and consistency. I developed progressions and blends of my original animal styles while continuing to focus on transforming the English alphabet. I began to employ my system of designed lettering to spell out poems or songs, to describe/narrate illustrations, and to title paintings – in tandem with landscape and figurative imagery I was creating during this time.”
